Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2007 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British & Continental Pictures including Greek Art, which included the work The Distressed Wife by James Leakey. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,980.00 (€ 2,913.70) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Leakey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lieutenant-Colonel W. George Collier, facing right in scarlet coat of the Coldstream Guards, with gold bordered blue collar and facings, gold epaulettes, white cross sash with gilt-metal oval plate, white shirt and black stock, curling light brown ha, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 6,869.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2007 führte Sothebys in Olympia die Auktion British & Continental Pictures including Greek Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Distressed Wife von James Leakey zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.980,00 (€ 2.913,70) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von James Leakey mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Lieutenant-Colonel W. George Collier, facing right in scarlet coat of the Coldstream Guards, with gold bordered blue collar and facings, gold epaulettes, white cross sash with gilt-metal oval plate, white shirt and black stock, curling light brown ha beobachtet, die im Juni 2003 für GBP 4.780,00 (€ 6.869,12) versteigert wurde.
