In November last year Phillips in an online auction held the auction Wired: Online Auction, which included this untitled work by James Castle. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,190.00 (€ 9,490.34), 37% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by James Castle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 41,470.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 37 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Phillips in einer Online-Auktion die Auktion Wired: Online Auction durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von James Castle zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.190,00 (€ 9.490,34) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Castle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 41.470,23).
