Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Abstract Forms) by James Castle was sold in the Outsider and Vernacular Art auction at Christies in January this year. The price achieved of USD 3,528.00 (€ 3,249.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Castle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 41,470.23).

Die Arbeit Untitled (Abstract Forms) von James Castle wurde im Januar diesen Jahres in der Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art bei Christies versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.528,00 (€ 3.249,22) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Castle erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 41.470,23).
