Auction result well in line with expectations
In January this year Christies held the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Untitled (Landscape) by James Castle. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,962.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by James Castle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 41,470.23).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Landscape) von James Castle zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.962,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Castle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 41.470,23).
