Auction result misses estimated price range
In January this year a collector was able to acquire the work Untitled (Two Buildings), double-sided by James Castle for USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,641.74). This price was achieved in the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art at Christies and was even below the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by James Castle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 41,470.23).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Untitled (Two Buildings), double-sided von James Castle für USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.641,74) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art bei Christies erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Castle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 41.470,23).
