Auction result well in line with expectations
In January this year Christies held the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Untitled (Double Heart), double-sided by James Castle. The price achieved of USD 2,520.00 (€ 2,320.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,500.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Castle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 41,470.23).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Double Heart), double-sided von James Castle zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.520,00 (€ 2.320,87) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.500,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Castle erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled Construction (Large Blue Jacket) im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 41.470,23).
