In the Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction, the work Unknown sold for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,640.81) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacques Antoine Marie Lemoine - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Elisabeth-Louise Vigée-Lebrun reading a letter seated in a garden, which sold at auction in January 2001 for USD 25,850.00 (€ 27,771.81).
