In November 2006 Christies in London held the auction Important Gold Boxes and Portrait Miniatures, which included the work A Mother, Seated Holding Her Child On Her Lap; The Mother In Ochre Coloured Dress Revealing Her Right Breast, White-Bordered Blue Scarf Around Her Shoulders And Brown Ribbon In Her Long Curling Hair, The Child Wearing White Dress, White Sock And Red by Jacques Antoine Marie Lemoine. The price achieved of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,673.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques Antoine Marie Lemoine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Elisabeth-Louise Vigée-Lebrun reading a letter seated in a garden in January 2001 with an auction result of USD 25,850.00 (€ 27,771.81).
