Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jacques Antoine Marie Lemoine could be acquired at Sothebys in London in December 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III auction, the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Countess De Gramont-Caderousse changed hands for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,216.03) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques Antoine Marie Lemoine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Elisabeth-Louise Vigée-Lebrun reading a letter seated in a garden in January 2001 with an auction result of USD 25,850.00 (€ 27,771.81).
