This artwork by Jacopo Robusti achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2018. In the Master Paintings auction, the work Portrait Of A Young Nobleman, Three Quarter Length, With A Black Velvet Cap, Doublet, And Cape, Resting His Hand On A Sword sold for USD 325,000.00 (€ 278,491.86) - well above the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jacopo Robusti have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A An Elderly Bearded Man, Head And Shoulders in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 1,609,250.00 (€ 2,044,570.24).
