Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ocnus: An allegory of the Futility of Labour by Jacopo Ligozzi was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Christies in London in July 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,654.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacopo Ligozzi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Turbanned Pasha With An Elephant in July 2009 with an auction result of GBP 529,250.00 (€ 600,540.11).
