This artwork by Jacopo Ligozzi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2011. In the Old Master and British Drawings Including Property from the Descendants of Walter Brandt auction, the work A Sultan Standing Beside A Goat: 'Solimano Imperator De Turchi' sold for GBP 469,250.00 (€ 538,534.58) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jacopo Ligozzi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Turbanned Pasha With An Elephant sold at auction in July 2009 with the realized price of GBP 529,250.00 (€ 600,540.11).
