Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two designs for book illustrations by Jacobus Buys was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 378.00 (€ 444.05). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacobus Buys achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Set Of Twelve Representations Of The Months in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 54,566.09).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two designs for book illustrations von Jacobus Buys im März 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 378,00 (€ 444,05) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jacobus Buys erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Set Of Twelve Representations Of The Months im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 54.566,09).
