Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Theatrical Scenes: A) A Scene From Molière'S Tartuffe B) A Scene From Lingelbach'S False Virtue by Jacobus Buys was sold in the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in London in July 2017. The price achieved of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,789.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacobus Buys achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Set Of Twelve Representations Of The Months in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 54,566.09).
