Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jacob Lawrence could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in November 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work The Family changed hands for USD 1,169,500.00 (€ 1,036,147.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,200,000.00 – 1,800,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jacob Lawrence have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Businessmen in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,169,800.00 (€ 5,448,909.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jacob Lawrence konnte im November 2021 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Art wechselte die Arbeit The Family für USD 1.169.500,00 (€ 1.036.147,78) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.200.000,00 – 1.800.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jacob Lawrence auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Businessmen im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.169.800,00 (€ 5.448.909,30).
