In January 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art, which included the work Still Life With A Basket Of Fruit And A Squirrel, Glasses, And A Cut Melon On A Tabletop by Jacob van Es. The result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 9,264.41) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob van Es achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life With A Fish On A Terracotta Plate, Bunches Of Asparagus, Artichokes And Cherries In A Scalloped Dish, Together With Half A Cheese In A Basket, Bread Rolls, Fraises De Bois, Lemons, Oranges And Crabs All Arranged On A Table Top in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 91,250.00 (€ 104,723.03).
