The »bidding war« ended at GBP 15,275.00 (€ 24,699.47), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jacob van Es have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life With A Fish On A Terracotta Plate, Bunches Of Asparagus, Artichokes And Cherries In A Scalloped Dish, Together With Half A Cheese In A Basket, Bread Rolls, Fraises De Bois, Lemons, Oranges And Crabs All Arranged On A Table Top in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 91,250.00 (€ 104,723.03).
