Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work The Last Judgement by Jacob de Backer. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 32,407.41) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob de Backer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Liberation of Saint Peter in June 2020 with an auction result of USD 399,000.00 (€ 355,266.67).
