This artwork by Jaap Wagemaker achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2000. In the TWENTIETH CENTURY ART auction, the work De Ruiter sold for NLG 72,552.40 (€ 33,989.64) - well above the upper estimate of NLG 30,000.00. This high result makes De Ruiter the most expensive artwork by Jaap Wagemaker that we have observed at auctions so far.
