This artwork by Ivan Aivazovsky achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2020. In the Russian Pictures auction, the work The Bay Of Naples sold for GBP 2,295,000.00 (€ 2,527,544.74) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ivan Aivazovsky; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot American Shipping Off The Rock of Gibraltar sold at auction in June 2007 with the realized price of GBP 2,708,000.00 (€ 4,018,535.80).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Ivan Aivazovsky erzielte im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Russian Pictures wurde die Arbeit The Bay Of Naples für GBP 2.295.000,00 (€ 2.527.544,74) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Ivan Aivazovsky; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit American Shipping Off The Rock of Gibraltar im Juni 2007 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 2.708.000,00 (€ 4.018.535,80).
