Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Columbus' Farewell before Starting on his Voyage from Port Palos in Spain by Ivan Aivazovsky was sold in the Russian Pictures auction at Sothebys in London in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,043,500.00 (€ 1,165,682.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ivan Aivazovsky - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work American Shipping Off The Rock of Gibraltar, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 2,708,000.00 (€ 4,018,535.80).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Columbus' Farewell before Starting on his Voyage from Port Palos in Spain von Ivan Aivazovsky wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Russian Pictures bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.043.500,00 (€ 1.165.682,50) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
