This artwork by Ismail Gulgee achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in September 2020. In the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work without title sold for GBP 13,860.00 (€ 15,282.90) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ismail Gulgee have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pakistani untitled (Dancing Woman) in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 77,500.00 (€ 65,137.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 98 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ismail Gulgee erzielte im September 2020 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für GBP 13.860,00 (€ 15.282,90) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ismail Gulgee auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pakistani untitled (Dancing Woman) im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 77.500,00 (€ 65.137,00).
