Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Ishikawa Toraji could be acquired at Christies in New York in March 2002 for an unexpectedly low price. In the JAPANESE AND KOREAN ART auction, the work Dokusho (Reading), from the series Rajo jusshu (Ten female nudes) changed hands for USD 881.25 (€ 1,010.96) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ishikawa Toraji achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rajo jusshu (Ten female nudes) in March 2001 with an auction result of USD 16,450.00 (€ 18,705.94).
