Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A barn interior with peasants conversing by a fire place, drinking and playing backgammon by Isaac van Ostade was sold in the Old Masters & 19th Century Art - including Dutch Impressionism auction at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2016. The price achieved of EUR 47,500.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Isaac van Ostade achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Frozen River Landscape With A Waggoner Halted At An Inn And A Horse Pulling A Laden Sleigh Off The Ice In The Foreground in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 1,833,250.00 (€ 2,204,276.57).
