This artwork by Kang Ik-Joong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2007. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Things I believe D19A-2005 sold for USD 49,000.00 (€ 34,460.93) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kang Ik-Joong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Moon Jars, which sold at auction in September 2008 for USD 134,500.00 (€ 95,518.78).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 96 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Kang Ik-Joong erzielte im September 2007 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art wurde die Arbeit Things I believe D19A-2005 für USD 49.000,00 (€ 34.460,93) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Kang Ik-Joong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Moon Jars beobachtet, die im September 2008 für USD 134.500,00 (€ 95.518,78) versteigert wurde.
