In April 2011 Christies in London held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Untitled (vases) by Ian Hamilton Finlay. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,096.97), 38% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ian Hamilton Finlay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in October 2012 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,324.93).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im April 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (vases) von Ian Hamilton Finlay zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.096,97) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ian Hamilton Finlay mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Oktober 2012 für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 9.324,93) versteigert wurde.
