Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of USD 87,500.00 (€ 76,896.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hugues Merle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work French Hamlet And Ophelia, which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 312,500.00 (€ 267,780.63).
