In May 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction European Art, which included the work French baigneuse by Hugues Merle. The »bidding war« ended at USD 118,750.00 (€ 105,687.08), 32% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hugues Merle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work French Hamlet And Ophelia, which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 312,500.00 (€ 267,780.63).

Im Mai 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit French baigneuse von Hugues Merle zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 118.750,00 (€ 105.687,08) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Hugues Merle mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit French Hamlet And Ophelia beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für USD 312.500,00 (€ 267.780,63) versteigert wurde.
