Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Triple portrait of Emma, Lady Hamilton (1765–1815), as the three Muses by Hugh Douglas Hamilton was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2021. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 600,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 620,000.00 (€ 727,078.56). Other works by Hugh Douglas Hamilton have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 542,850.00 (€ 814,474.95) in May 2004 for the work Double Portrait of Mary, Countess of Erne, with her daughter Lady Caroline Crichton, later Lady Wharncliffe, full-length, seated, the former in a brown dress with a yellow sash, wearing a large straw hat, with a mandolin beside her, the latter showin.

Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 600.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 620.000,00 (€ 727.078,56) einen neuen Besitzer.
