In July 2014 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work Portrait of John David La Touche of Marlay, Dublin (1772–1830), full-length, in a taupe frock coat and jabot, with Taormina and Mount Etna beyond by Hugh Douglas Hamilton. The result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 31,532.86) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hugh Douglas Hamilton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Double Portrait of Mary, Countess of Erne, with her daughter Lady Caroline Crichton, later Lady Wharncliffe, full-length, seated, the former in a brown dress with a yellow sash, wearing a large straw hat, with a mandolin beside her, the latter showin in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 542,850.00 (€ 81

Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Double Portrait of Mary, Countess of Erne, with her daughter Lady Caroline Crichton, later Lady Wharncliffe, full-length, seated, the former in a brown dress with a yellow sash, wearing a large straw hat, with a mandolin beside her, the latter showin im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 542.850,00 (€ 814
