A top price for Huang Hongtao
This artwork by Huang Hongtao achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in December last year. In the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction, the work Volcano sold for HKD 390,600.00 (€ 46,807.74) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 180,000.00. This high result makes Volcano the most expensive artwork by Huang Hongtao that we have observed at auctions so far.
