This artwork by Huang Hongtao achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Cologne in May this year. In the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction, the work Celebrations sold for HKD 226,800.00 (€ 27,184.49) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Huang Hongtao; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Volcano sold at auction in December last year with the realized price of HKD 390,600.00 (€ 46,807.74).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Huang Hongtao erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in Köln einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings wurde die Arbeit Celebrations für HKD 226.800,00 (€ 27.184,49) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 120.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Huang Hongtao; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Volcano im Dezember letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 390.600,00 (€ 46.807,74).
