Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2003 Christies in London held the auction Important Gold Boxes,Objects of Vertu & Portrait Miniatures, which included the work Sir Thomas Apprede, Bt., facing right in brown coat, white waistcoat and tied cravat, powdered hair by Horace Hone. The price achieved of GBP 2,390.00 (€ 3,385.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Horace Hone have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Sir William Forbes, 6Th Bt. Of Pitsligo (1739-1806) in March 2017 with an auction result of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,916.33).
