Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of The Hon. Sophia Ward by Horace Hone was sold in the Important Miniatures from a Private Collection auction at Sothebys in London in April 2008. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,374.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Horace Hone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Sir William Forbes, 6Th Bt. Of Pitsligo (1739-1806), which sold at auction in March 2017 for GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,916.33).
