Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two Winos Arguing (Mission Street Tavern) by Horace Bristol was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in December 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,386.00 (€ 1,133.28). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Horace Bristol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work PBY Blister Gunner, Rescue at Rabaul, 1944 in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 25,755.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two Winos Arguing (Mission Street Tavern) von Horace Bristol im Dezember 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.386,00 (€ 1.133,28) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Horace Bristol erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit PBY Blister Gunner, Rescue at Rabaul, 1944 im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 25.755,49).
