This artwork by Hong Tong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in October 2004. In the IMPORTANT 20TH CEN CHIN PAINTINGS FROM THE YAGEO FOUNDATION auction, the work White Moon sold for HKD 717,000.00 (€ 72,228.78) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 400,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hong Tong; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot White Moon sold at auction in October 2018 with the realized price of HKD 937,500.00 (€ 105,563.89).
