Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Boats in the Azure by Hon Chi Fun was worth HKD 187,500.00 (€ 22,000.64) to a buyer in May 2015. This price was achieved in the auction Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 38,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Hon Chi Fun; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Hsiang 65-5 sold at auction in November 2015 with the realized price of HKD 225,000.00 (€ 27,480.59).
