In January 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work Wooded Landscape by Herman van Swanevelt. The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,000.00 (€ 19,152.69), 39% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Herman van Swanevelt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Italianate landscape with a drover, cattle and washer women, a bridge and a hill top temple beyond, which sold at auction in March 2000 for GBP 43,300.00 (€ 72,009.88).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wooded Landscape von Herman van Swanevelt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 19.152,69) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Herman van Swanevelt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An Italianate landscape with a drover, cattle and washer women, a bridge and a hill top temple beyond beobachtet, die im März 2000 für GBP 43.300,00 (€ 72.009,88) versteigert wurde.
