In December 2009 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work An Italianate Wooded Landscape With Travellers On A Path Along The Riverside by Herman van Swanevelt. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 16,250.00 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Herman van Swanevelt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Italianate landscape with a drover, cattle and washer women, a bridge and a hill top temple beyond in March 2000 with an auction result of GBP 43,300.00 (€ 72,009.88).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2009 führte Sothebys in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit An Italianate Wooded Landscape With Travellers On A Path Along The Riverside von Herman van Swanevelt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 16.250,00 und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Herman van Swanevelt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An Italianate landscape with a drover, cattle and washer women, a bridge and a hill top temple beyond im März 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.300,00 (€ 72.009,88).
