Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Sir Charles Morgan (1760-1846), Seated Three-Quarter-Length, In A Black Suit, Holding A Letter In His Right Hand by Henry William Pickersgill was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,145.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry William Pickersgill - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work L'improvisatrice, which sold at auction in July this year for GBP 10,240.00 (€ 11,946.98).
