This artwork by Henry Thomas Alken, Sen. achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2010. In the Old Master & Decorative, Modern & Contemporary Prints auction, the work Panorama of a Fox Hunt, shewing a large scope of the Leicestershire, Rutlandshire and Linconshire counties, with all sorts of riders, good, bad and indifferent (Siltzer 61) sold for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,189.99) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Thomas Alken, Sen. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Meet On The Highway; A Meet On A Byway; On To The Road; And Crossing Paths in June 2013 with an auction result of GBP 37,500.00 (€ 43,769.22).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 83 % übertroffen
