The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,850.00 (€ 30,461.94), 72% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Roderick Newman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Porta Dei Canonici, Duomo, Florence, which sold at auction in November 2016 for USD 75,000.00 (€ 70,901.87).
