Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Shipping in the estuary under moonlight by Henry Pether was sold in the Victorian Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,613.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Pether - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View of The Thames By Moonlight, Towards London Bridge, With The Tower of London And Traitors' Gate In The Foreground, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 30,000.00 (€ 44,550.94).
