In the American Art auction, the work Untitled (A Water Carrier) sold for USD 65,000.00 (€ 59,605.69) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Henry Ossawa Tanner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nicodemus Coming to Christ in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 541,000.00 (€ 347,686.38).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Henry Ossawa Tanner erzielte im September 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled (A Water Carrier) für USD 65.000,00 (€ 59.605,69) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Henry Ossawa Tanner auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nicodemus Coming to Christ im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 541.000,00 (€ 347.686,38).
