The work Grapes, a pear, gooseberries and an apple on a marble ledge; and Grapes, hazelnuts, and apple and a plum on a marble ledge by Henry George Todd was sold in the British and Continental Pictures auction at Christies in London in April 2002. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,935.00 (€ 7,984.70), 65% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Henry George Todd; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Grapes, pears, apples, peaches, plums, roses, a bronze tazza, a bird's nest and a glass dome containing red finches, on a wooden shelf sold at auction in June 2010 with the realized price of GBP 7,250.00 (€ 8,816.67).
