In October 2001 Christies in London held the auction British And Continental Watercolours And Drawings, which included the work A castle on the rocks with shipping beyond by Henry Barlow Carter. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 705.00 (€ 1,139.38), 41% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Henry Barlow Carter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mont Orgueil, Jersey in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,962.49).

Im Oktober 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion British And Continental Watercolours And Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A castle on the rocks with shipping beyond von Henry Barlow Carter zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 705,00 (€ 1.139,38) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Henry Barlow Carter auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mont Orgueil, Jersey im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.962,49).
