Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Henry Alken achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2008. In the The Sporting Sale auction, the work Unknown sold for GBP 1,625.00 (€ 2,054.65) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Alken achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British Start For The Derby, 1847; And Cossack Winning The Derby, 1847 (Two Works) in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 80,500.00 (€ 57,834.61).
