The price achieved of USD 80,500.00 (€ 57,834.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, British Start For The Derby, 1847; And Cossack Winning The Derby, 1847 (Two Works) is the most expensive artwork by Henry Alken that we have observed at auctions so far.
