Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2009 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work Dutch A Village In The Mountains; Figures In A Mountainous Landscape (A Pair) by Henri Knip. The price achieved of EUR 8,750.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 8,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henri Knip - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A view of Lake Geneva, with figures at a vineyard in the foreground, the Château de Chillon beyond, which sold at auction in May this year for USD 22,680.00 (€ 21,287.78).
