Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Portrait Of Grand Duchess Ekaterina Palvovna Of Russia, Queen Of Würtemberg (1788-1819) Circa 1821 by Henri Benner was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2018, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 8,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,659.01). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henri Benner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Grand Duke Nicholas Pavlovich, Later Emperor Nicholas I Of Russia (1796-1855), Circa 1821, which sold at auction in November 2018 for GBP 75,000.00 (€ 84,597.72).
